Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and shares a border with China in the north and Nepal in the east. It is popularly called ‘Dev Bhoomi’ or the land of the Gods because of the many shrines and places of worship it houses. 90 percent of the state depends on agriculture, though the state is also rich in mineral resources and is home to many small scale industries. It is also an emerging hydropower generator, with projects on many rivers like the Yamuna, Bhagirathi, Bhilangana, Alaknanda, Mandakini, Saryu Gauri, Kosi and Kali.
