Dadra and Nagar Haveli

A Union Territory in west India, Dadra and Nagar Haveli is comprised of two distinct geographic entities. Sharing the capital Silvassa, the Union Territory, unlike its surroundings was under Portuguese rule from 1783 until the mid-20th century. As the north-western ghats moist deciduous area, this region is known for its geographic beauty where 5.5 per cent of the territory is covered with forests and over 40 per cent of its forest territory reserved. While the economy of Dadra and Nagar Haveli relies on activities such as agriculture, industries, forestry and tourism.
